We are just back from another sisters trip! This year, our goal was financial fitness. Instead of jetting off to uncharted territory, we instead lightened our carbon footprint and wallets by staying closer to our homes. A Travelzoo special offered a 1/2 price weekend at a country inn that was within 2 hours of each of us.
We brought our snowshoes (ok, we admit we never used them) and we brought ideas about places to explore in the area.
Coupons for the in-house spa came with our package and we, of course, enjoyed treadmilling, massages, manicures and pedicures. We are sorry that we never even used the heated outdoor pool and hot tub
Instead of fancy 4 course meals, we dined at a local establishment and good home cooking.
Instead of shows and shopping, our evening activities included sorting through boxes of old photos and family jewelry. How we laughed at the memories of people and things.
All in all, it was a fun weekend although, if asked, we secretly missed treating ourselves to a little more luxury and warm sandy beaches.

Sisters' Trip #1
May 1997
I think it is important to look back on some of our memorable travel together.
Our very first weekend trip, in honor of one sister's 50th birthday, took us to the Wilburton Inn - (http://www.wilburton.com) a fitting place that honored sisters!!! Georgette Levis, called 'Gorgeous' by her family, is the sister of playwright Wendy Wasserstein, banker Bruce Wasserstein, and financial executive Sandra Meyer. Georgette and her sisters are delighted to be included in the best seller book "Sisters" so we thought it a fitting place for us to stay.
We had fun being with each other on this experimental weekend away. I know that we had good dinners, that the shopping at all the outlets, etc. was great and the historic center of town was very interesting.
However, the highlight of this trip was the:
**Naked Guy in the Swimming Pool**
There is no question that this is our main memory of this trip. We were sitting quietly by the pool with glasses of wine talking about our day. It was dark and warm and quiet outside and we were the only guests sitting by the pool. All of a sudden, from nowhere, a naked young and good looking guy came across the patio and dove into the pool! We were shocked and surprised and enjoyed the show he gave us! Naked Guy has no idea still that we were there. He left as innocently as when he arrived and we've had this story to tell for years now :-)
We decided that our tradition had been born!
